If I’d have more free time on my hands, I’d do more random short movies. I think video editing and filming is actually really nice! I had some video classes back in the days at polytechnic school, but back in those days, I used to think that I’d need loads of expensive equipment and shit. That’s not the case anymore.

Here’s a really random video I filmed with my iPhone. I didn’t plan to make a film. I just downloaded this really nice 8mm Vintage Camera app for iPhone. Next thing I knew, I was taking a walk in the forest with my dogs. I basically just filmed some awesome landscapes and then edited the thing together with iMovie on my Mac. I threw some vignette effects and background music to go with it and presto! A psychedelic forest adventure. Needless to say, that the film is quite pointless, but that’s how I like my movies.

Here’s an older short movie I did some years ago. It’s pretty much the same style as the new one, but it was done as a school assignment. And it was my first time with editing stuff. This is filmed with an actual HD-video camera and edited in Final Cut Pro.

I still like this film very much after all these years. I like to create an ambience rather than a followable story line. Why cannot a film be like listening to jazz? Just nice atmosphere and nothing else.

Aaaaand here’s one more. This was a school assignment too some years ago. I didn’t actually have much to do with work, since it was primarily a 3D and compositing exercise and I only filmed and edited it. My friend (the dude who takes the bullet in this one) was the one who was responsible for the 3D work and compositing. By the way, amazingly many class mates created also a video including a robot shooting at someone or something. What is it with hostile robots? I bet that is the most tired idea ever over used!

Kat Schrödinger Pin-up

Hello children! In my last post, I said that I probably wouldn’t continue painting this pic, but I DID! It’s now more or less finished and it is called Kat Schrödinger. Last time I didn’t know what to call it so I just called it the black underwear girl. Enjoy!

This is a quick girl sketch done in couple of hours. I’m painting this from my imagination and I don’t have any actual reference images for this work unfortunately. I’d desperately need one though and i don’t know whether I’ll continue painting this or not. I think it looks quite nice like this actually, so maybe I’ll just leave it to the sketch stage.

I’m also seeing some anatomical red flags and i’m quite skeptical whether I’m able to finish a pic like this without any references. The lighting is challenging too and it would be somewhat hard to figure it out properly relying only on my imagination and rendering skills.

This is a forever ongoing painting, that probably never will be finished. I occasionally like to add some new elements to it, while I’m listening some weird ambient music with weirds prehistoric sounding voices.

This painting is starting to be ready. I’d say it’s about 80% finished at this point. So far I’m happy with the face and upper body. Legs, feet and arms still need some work and after that it’s just some basic finishing touches and detailing.

So far the client seems to be happy with the work also, which is always super duper nice!

I’m working on with a new pin-up painting. The exciting news is, this is actually a client work. I usually get more layout design commissions so I’m really psyched to get a pin-up commission. There’s a lot of work to be done still, but here’s some progress pics. I’ll post more as the project goes along.

This is the pencil sketch. I took the photo with iPhone. Picture quality doesn’t really matter at this point.

Base color added and some shading already done. About 30% done.

Chick sketch of the day: Öblivion VI

The pen sketch is done with regular ball point pen on ordinary copy paper. I then photographed it with my iPhone. (Professional tools, ay?) Colors are done in Photoshop naturally by painting straight onto the image file.
