This is the first pencil sketch for the painting

My wacom is covered with dust, because I haven’t been painting in few months. Our flat is being renovated and basically My mind has been pretty much on that project. Last night though I had an great burst of inspiration when our friend and floor repair guy, visited and shared an unbelievable story. I decided to illustrate this story with a painting.

He told about a previous job he had done few years ago. The job involved a modification of a flat in a apartment building, that was built in 1930’s in the center of Helsinki. They had to tear apart a wall in the attic. Behind that wall they discovered a small space, with no exit, and two human skeletons. I couldn’t believe that it actually happened to him. An image immediatly came into my mind about this discovery. The skeletons had some kind of chains around their wrists and with them, there were some other junk, like old copper pots. Were they buried there alive or what, I dont know. Police investigation appearently followed, but I don’t know more details about this odd happening.

I too live in a very old apartment building (built 1910) in Helsinki and our attic is also very spooky. Knowing that this thing actually happened, I got very inspired!

Here’s a sketch I drew today. I’m having something like this in my mind, although, I’m not going to make a horror themed painting at all. I love the mexican style skulls, calaveras, and I’m going to use that style in this painting.
